Parents know better than anyone how hard it is to try to live a healthy life.
As a parent, you'd do anything to make sure your kids are happy and healthy. Unfortunately, this means you often skip the gym to spend time with them. Of course, your relationship with your children is the most important thing, but you also need to take care of yourself.
We know that being a parent can sometimes be stressful, and taking a break from the kids to work out can help a lot to relieve stress. You shouldn't feel bad if you sometimes leave your kids with a babysitter and go to the gym. Exercise gives you a sense of calm and accomplishment, which makes you more patient and a better parent in the long run.
But exercise and kids shouldn't be so different from each other. There are many ways you can be a responsible parent and still enjoy the benefits of physical activity with your kids.
GO ON AN ADVENTURE
Think back to when you were a kid. Do you remember how exciting it was when your family took you on an adventure? You'd walk outside for what seemed like hours, discovering all the fun things nature has to offer while spending quality time with people you cared about.
Even as an adult, you should still be just as excited as your kids when you go outside. Not only does it bring the family closer together, but walking outside on rough terrain is a great way to work out your legs, especially if you're climbing up hills and chasing after active kids. By the end of the day, you'll be exhausted! You don't have to stay in the woods, either. For a change, you could take your kids to an indoor climbing centre.
SWIMMINGLY WELL
Your child can learn to swim at Fitness First Clubs, which is a great place to do so. We have a variety of lessons for kids who want to learn how to swim. Our professional instructors can teach your child the basic swimming strokes and turn them into expert swimmers in just a few months.
You can make progress at the gym while your child is having fun in the pool. Drop your child off at swimming lessons while you enjoy some much-needed "me" time at the gym working on your personal best. Here, you can learn more about swimming lessons for kids.
START DANCING
Children love to dance. That's not a secret.
When music starts playing, it will be hard to stop your kids from dancing around the living room to their favourite TV show or having a boogie to the radio. Schedule a half-hour for you and your kids to dance at home and give it your all for a fun and effective cardio workout.
Turn commercial breaks into short workouts.
Instead of groaning and skipping through the commercials when you're watching TV, be happy that you have a few extra minutes to work out. If you've been doing our 40 Days of Fitness Challenge, you know how much you can do in a short amount of time. Try jumping squats and see how much a few minutes can change things.
